Diving Holidays with Scubadive West

Winter Sunshine 2008   Dive El Hierro           8th - 15th November 2008                                                           

The tiny Canary Island of El Hierro basks in glorious year-round sunshine, and lends itself to an abundance of flaura and fauna both above and below the water.  Pine forests at 1500 metres, plateaus where sheep and cows graze contentedly and island hospitality, which rivals that of our own! Underwater, expect daily encounters with groupers (in particular the camera friendly Pancho!), moray eels, barracuda and sometimes manta rays.  Avid hikers can take part in daily guided walking trips, which traverse this rural island. Indeed, El Hierro has long been recognised as a Utopia for divers and hill walkers alike, thus offering the best of both worlds. A yearly average surface temperature of 20 degrees makes for balmy walking conditions, while underwater the temperature averages 19 - 24 degrees.  Your accomodation is in the charming fishing village of La Restinga where you will stay in modern apartments overlooking the ocean. A three minute downhill meander will find you at the famous "El Bar" (widely recognised as Europe's most southerly watering hole!) and a choice of local restaurants.

This weeklong trip will depart Ireland on Saturday, 8th November and return to Ireland on Saturday 15th November.

Total trip price for divers is €625 (includes 10 boat dives, accomodation, tanks, weights, airport transfers, ferries).

You will need to purchase your own flights but Ryanair do deals from both Shannon and Dublin to Tenerife. Expect to pay in the region of €150 - €180 return.

Total trip price for walkers/non divers is €425 (includes accomodation, ferries, airport transfers, ferries, guided daily hiking tours).

Deposit (non refundable) of €100 required, with the balance due for payment 8 weeks in advance.

Minimum diver level is PADI Advanced Open Water diver, or equivalent, with recent diving experience.
